Editorial Policy
Source standards, calculator methodology, advertising independence and correction practices for DriveWise OTD.
DriveWise OTD publishes calculator explanations and car-buying guides designed to help readers inspect written numbers. This policy describes how pages are selected, written and corrected.
Scope
Content stays close to vehicle purchase math, dealership paperwork, trade equity, auto-loan structure and basic quote comparison. The site does not publish vehicle reviews, lender rankings or personalized financial recommendations.
Source preference
Guides prioritize primary consumer sources, including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Federal Trade Commission and official state motor-vehicle directories. When local rules vary, the page states the limitation rather than presenting a national shortcut as universal law.
Calculator methodology
The loan calculator uses standard fixed-rate amortization. The OTD builder separates the transaction total from trade equity, cash down and amount financed. Tax switches remain visible because trade and rebate treatment can vary.
Advertising independence
Advertising does not determine calculator results, guide conclusions or which public sources are referenced. The site does not accept payment to place a fee, dealer product or financing option inside the calculator.
Corrections and dates
Material updates receive a revised date. Corrections can be requested through the contact page. A useful correction includes the URL, disputed statement and an official or primary source.
